Frank Taney Presents to Philadelphia Area New Media Association on “Copying” in Design and Development
Presentation Addressed the Permissible Bounds of Copying for Designers and Developers in Digital Media
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – September 28, 2014 – Frank Taney, principal of Taney Legal LLC, presented to the Philadelphia Area New Media Association (“PANMA”) on the practical and legal considerations of copying in design and development on September 25, 2014.
PANMA (www.panma.org) is a non-profit organization serving individuals and companies in the Philadelphia Area who are involved in digital development. In existence since 1996, PANMA offers a wide variety of educational programs of interest to those involved in work with digital media. Taney serves as PANMA’s Vice President and Secretary.
Taney’s presentation, entitled “Copying: The Practical and Legal Conisderations for Designers and Developers,” addressed, with some humor, the practical and legal boundaries affecting “copying,” “taking inspiration” from, or “borrowing” from others’ content, from the perspective of patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and contract law.
